Tennis Etiquette

Rules of protocol and common courtesy have been created over the years. All tennis players should be aware of them and abide by them. Please keep the following in mind. 1. Talk quietly when standing near tennis courts that are in use. 2. Never stand between the courts when play is in progress. 3. Wait until a point is over before walking behind a court where a game is in progress. 4. Always have a can of balls with you; everyone should take turns supplying tennis balls that are not old or worn. 5. Never interfere with another court when play is in progress: - to retrieve a ball from another court or to return a ball to another court, wait until the point in progress on that court is completed - balls can also be returned carefully at the back of the court along the fence 6. As the server, announce the set score before starting a game and announce the game score before serving each point. 7. If players cannot agree on a score, return to the last known sco...

Court Schedule Revised May 31 2010

Image
Hi Fellow Members, Thanks to all who have taken the time to register early for the upcoming tennis season. Special welcome to the 56 new members who have already joined our club so far. Please feel free to ask any questions or make suggestions. I will do my best to find the answer to any concerns. Based on the responses from the members, a court schedule has been created. Please keep in mind that because of the varying playing abilities of tennis players, it can be difficult to organize playing times for everyone. All members are asked to assist each other to sort out players that are best suited to play together. If you prefer to play singles at other times, please let me know if you wish me to send out your request in an email to the membership. Evenings after 8:00 pm offer a great opportunity for members to play under the lights in ideal conditions, often cooler and without a breeze. Reminder that once lights are turned on, they are programmed to come off at 11 pm....

Windscreens are up!

Hi Everyone! The windscreens are up and the courts have been swept and cleaned ready for you to play! A big THANK YOU to our expert work crew led by Wes, Carol, Sam, Peter, Kevin, Keith, Alex, Deb, John, Julie, Jillian, Jim, Sayed, & Shawn. Thanks also to those who have cleared the broken glass and needles from courts several times already this season. We had a great turnout of help. It is much appreciated! Carol's coffee and wild blueberry muffins were super as usual. Here's a few pics Jillian took this morning before the rain came. Wes will be there playing Monday and Wednesday evening from 6- 7:30 if you need to get registered. Please remember to fill out the survey and give us any suggestions for this season. Thanks, Andrew

Welcome to the 2010 Season!

Greetings Fellow Members! We are still looking for some help on Saturday morning at the courts to install the remaining windscreens. We could a couple of stepladders to help speed up the process. The 4 new windscreens were installed on the north and west side fence last week thanks to Wes, Alex and Mel. We should be able to be playing fairly soon in the morning. Carol Fu will be at the courts between 9:00-11:00 am (weather permitting) to process any additional registrations. Her "world famous" muffins and coffee will also be available. Attached is a brief survey for you to consider regarding the court usage for this season. Please add any comments on the survey (word document) and bring them Saturday or reply with suggestions directly in the body of the email. We really appreciate you taking the time to respond. Don't forget the Tennis Fair which is a clinic run by the Ontario Tennis Association on our courts on Saturday July 17, 2010 between 9:45 a.m. - 12...
