Tournament Update!

Alliston's youth are starting to impact the local tennis scene, with the incredible performance by 15 year old Joe Lloyd to make the finals. In what can only be described as amazing, Randy Hoffman clung to his title for the second straight year! Down 7-2 to the young Joe Lloyd, Hoffman's title seemed in doubt as the finals was a first to 8 Pro-Set. The more experienced Hoffman kept the ball in play, with the players often exchanging 30 ball rallies for each point. Hoffman chipped away game after game and eventually clawed back to draw even at 7-7. Then he took the lead over the surprised Lloyd. Joe Lloyd was not done just yet, regrouping to win the next two games to recapturing the lead at 9-8. However, Hoffman clawed back yet again by winning the next three games and taking the title 11-9. (In the pro set format, one must win by two games)
Congratulations to both our Champion Randy Hoffman and our runner up Joe Lloyd for one of the best singles match in Alliston in years.
Congratulations also to Mike Cooper and Joe Lloyd, who claimed the Doubles Championship over finalists Peter Trivett and Bill Scott.

Special thanks to sponsors Canadian Tire, Alliston and Boulton & Sons Replay Sports Plus.

Thanks also to Kevin and Debbie Herrington for organizing and cooking up a
great day of tennis and fun for all!

See you all again next year.
