Rebecca Herrington, won three matches recently at the National Under-12 selection tournament played at Pine Point Tennis Club in Toronto. She made it all the way to the consolation finals in this prestigious tournament where thirty-two of the top girls in the province are competing for a spot on Team Ontario. Her result in the All-Ontario Provincial Championships in early July will determine if she advances to the National Finals at Mount Temblanc, Quebec later this summer. Rebecca is a member of the Alliston Tennis Club.
Heather Borsos & Payton Swaffield meet in the Finals
Alliston Tennis Club members and students at Banting Memorial High School were very well represented at the Georgian Bay Tennis Championships in Collingwood. Heather Borsos and teammate Payton Swaffield ended the day playing each other in the singles finals while Joe Lloyd was a finalist in the boys division. Not satisfied as the runner up, he continues to work hard to improve his game.
Heather Borsos, a gifted player, came out with the championship capping off a great day of tennis. She also went on to win a local Rogers Rookie Tournament!
Payton Swaffield is a very humble girl and never imagined she would make it the finals. She had a record day winning 5 of her 7 games against the best high school players in the region.
Congratulations Rebecca, Heather, Payton and Joe!
Good luck going forward. We are all rooting for you.
Special thanks to our own Kevin Herrington who has helped guide our young talents along the way. We are very fortunate to have such dedicated people at the club.
